Be part of 'Opera in the City Festival' - London's new summer opera festival at Bridewell Theatre
We are accepting submissions from companies to present their work at Opera in the City Festival between 20th August and 7th September 2019.

“Opera in the City Festival feels like the place to be" - Culture Whisper

“There’s plenty of variety to tempt any opera goer looking for the unusual” - Bachtrack

“Deserves praise for looking beyond the obvious and for providing London with a further August alternative to the Royal Albert Hall“ - Opera magazine

We can offer slots for one-off events, 2 nights or 3 nights. We usually have one evening performance per day, starting at 7.30pm.

What we are looking for
- New works
- Rarely performed pieces
- Innovative and unusual takes on classics
- Crossover-projects and experimental works which combine classical music with other art forms.

What we offer
- Inclusion in the Opera in the City programme and marketing: Your own production page on our website, inclusion on the festival poster and flyers and in the festival press release.
- The space of the Bridewell Theatre (130 seats) with access to the space from 6pm-10pm on performance days
- Tech time (usually 8 hours)
- A duty technician for your first 4 hours of tech.
- Box office service (online and on the door)

- The festival operates on a 50/50 box office split with the Bridewell Theatre. All productions are required to pay 50% of their box office intakes to the venue.
- A participation fee of £150 is payable to Time Zone Theatre. This contributes towards our costs for the duty technician, box office staff for your performance, duty manager, and marketing expenses.
- Companies need to provide their own operator or stage manager for their performances.

Please note that the festival cannot act as producer for visiting companies, and therefore can't accept submitted scores or project proposals which don’t have a producer attached to it.

To submit your project, please email the artistic director Pamela Schermann at [email protected] with a outline of the project, information about the producing company and artists involved, and any additional material such as video clips, production shots or reviews of previous shows. Submission deadline: 20th March 2019.
